Sparks' groundbreaking album "Kimono My House" was released on Island Records on May 1, 1974 and is widely regarded as the group's commercial breakthrough and one of their most memorable works.

Kimono My House was praised from all sides and spawned the group's biggest British single: "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us", which landed at number 4 on the UK single charts. Produced by Mervyn "Muff" Winwood and recorded in the UK with a venerable cast of British musicians (Martin Gordon on bass, Adrian Fisher on guitar and Norman "Dinky"Diamond on drums), the album lined up with the contemporary popularity of glam rock and arranged stylistically into the experimental and electronically embossed Era of Era of Roxy Music and David Bowie around 1974. "While the brotherhood of Ron and Russell is undoubtedly the driving force behind Sparks, their infallible companion band should not be forgotten. Kimono My House is undoubtedly one of the greatest albums to emerge from the art rock scene of the 1970's" - Ben Forrest Far Out.
