"There are some great bands coming out of Ireland at the moment. Fontaines DC, Murder Capital and both wonderful but when it comes to truly pushing boundaries, Girl Band take it further than the others.Imagine Mark E Smith wanting to turn things up a few notches and take things to the next level. This is as joyous to listen to as it is uncomforting and bewildering. It has a DIY vibe similar to Black Midi or the excellent Snapped Ankles that made me grin ear to ear. It is also a progression from their debut album Holding Hands with Jamie and the long form tracks splurge into one, almost Sun Ra type amorphous soundscape with harrowing vocals, noisy guitars and clattering percussion.
